Your Professional Headshot Says “CEO,”

Does Your Bank Account Agree?

Dino Gomez has built successful multi-million dollar businesses while traveling the world,

collecting haters and occasionally wearing questionable wigs... Maybe “professionalism” needs a rebrand.

There are people online right now with immaculate branding, professional headshots, 14 certifications and a business their high school friends would find completely respectable. There is also Dino Gomez.

He’s built multiple successful businesses, coached entrepreneurs, traveled the world and apparently reached the stage of success where showing up to talk seven figures in a wig feels perfectly reasonable. Annoyingly, he may be onto something...

Nicole Cherie Hesse knows firsthand - she calls Gomez her very first coach and the person who “opened the door” for the business empire she runs today.

Their reunion quickly becomes less of a business interview and more of an investigation into why some wildly talented entrepreneurs never make it past looking like they should be successful.

Turns out, professionalism isn’t always the problem - hiding behind it might be...

Gomez knows that game because he played it himself. After college, he lasted approximately six months in corporate America before realizing the whole act one way at work, become yourself again after 5 p.m. arrangement wasn’t going to work for him.

He quit, went online, and built an agency that grew to multiple six figures within its first couple of years.

Then people started asking him how he’d done it. Business coaching seemed like the obvious next move, except Gomez had one tiny problem: he was waiting for someone to tell him he was qualified.

He imagined some magical authority figure essentially emerging from a bush to announce that he'd finally accumulated enough experience to call himself an expert. Nobody came.

The shift happened when Gomez decided to stop waiting and started acting like the person he'd been waiting for permission to become. Things began lining up.

Then, naturally, came the wigs... apparently, self-authorization has side effects.

Most entrepreneurs fear criticism. Gomez practically sends a fruit basket. When Hesse received her first real wave of hate online, she went to her coach horrified.

His reaction? Congratulations.

Gomez considers attracting haters one of the milestones of becoming visible enough to matter.

Not because criticism magically makes someone correct... but because you can't build a meaningful audience while simultaneously guaranteeing nobody will ever disagree with you.

His own team once collected mean comments from his ads for a potential “celebrity mean tweets” video.

Among the devastating critiques of his business expertise? “Dino, you’re not tall enough.”

The internet remains a serious place.

But underneath the jokes is one of Gomez's strongest marketing philosophies: your personality, beliefs, and interests help attract your people.

His advice is to get louder about who you actually are instead of sanding yourself down into something nobody could possibly dislike - or remember.

"Your future clients can't buy from your draft folder..."

Here's where the call-out gets slightly uncomfortable... Gomez says one of the biggest bottlenecks he sees in otherwise accomplished entrepreneurs is an unwillingness to post publicly. They're worried about what friends and family will think, so the expertise stays safely tucked away where absolutely nobody can judge it.

Unfortunately, nobody can buy it there either. Audience building comes next. Hesse remembers Gomez telling her to build a Facebook group...

She did—and grew it to 1,000 people in four weeks. Meanwhile, both agree that entrepreneurs will invent remarkably creative reasons to avoid building the audience their business mathematically requires.

Then there’s email... apparently everyone fights Dino on email. He calls it an “untapped” profitable channel: build the list, earn attention and you have a direct way to reach people when you have something worth selling. Revolutionary? No. Effective? Inconveniently, yes.

The seven-figure secret is embarrassingly unsexy...

Eventually, all those polished entrepreneurs encounter the thing no font package can solve:

You have to sell something.

If Gomez had to restart with one skill already mastered, he says he'd choose sales. His advice isn't particularly glamorous either: listen, care about the person you're talking to and get your reps in. Every no? One closer to a yes.

Maybe that's the real scandal behind Dino Gomez. There isn't some mysterious personality transplant waiting at seven figures. You don't suddenly become more legitimate, more polished or less weird.

You build the audience. Send the email. Make the offer. Hear "no." Do it again.

And somewhere along the way, you stop waiting for success to make you feel qualified and realize you were supposed to decide that part yourself. Gomez did... then he put on a wig and got back to work.
